Premio Hostelería Valencia a la gastronomía sostenible

Yesterday, Gourmet Catering & Eventos was honored with the Hostelería Valencia 2024 Award for Sustainable Gastronomy, a recognition granted for its involvement in research and innovation projects focused on healthy, sustainable, and safe food at events.

The awards ceremony, organized by the Business Federation of Hospitality of Valencia, brought together over 600 industry professionals at the Oceanogràfic. The Councilor for Tourism, Innovation, and Investment Attraction, Paula Llobet, presented the award, which was received by Corinna Heilmann, Head of Business Development and International Relations; Carlos González, Head of External Kitchen Operations; and Javier García, Head of the Production Center.

Pioneers in Sustainability

The Valencian company has been a pioneer in the sector by launching initiatives to prevent food waste and manage surplus food. This has resulted in the certification of the donation of more than 12,500 meals to the Food Bank in the past year, thanks to the implementation of software developed by the tech company Naria at their production center.

The company’s R&D department is also working on creating healthy and sustainable menus in collaboration with the University of Valencia, with special attention to reducing water and carbon footprints.

Gourmet Catering is also one of the driving forces behind La Mare Que Va de Asindown, a training center in hospitality and tourism for people with Down syndrome and intellectual disabilities. The project promotes labor inclusion and the creation of a comprehensive manual for organizing inclusive and sustainable events.

Among the company’s objectives for the coming year is to continue forging alliances with projects and organizations to advance the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

The Hostelería Valencia Awards are organized by the Business Federation of Hospitality of Valencia and aim to recognize the effort and career of the main players in the hospitality sector in the province, highlighting their role in the continuous improvement of the industry.

Additionally, as recognition of its commitment to innovation and sustainability, the company recently received the prestigious Eventoplus Award for Best Catering in Spain, becoming the first Valencian company to win this national accolade.
