In April of last year, Gourmet Catering & events He became the First catering company in using a Blockchain system to Donate the food surplus thanks to naria, a digital blockchain traceability platform that interconnects all agents in the food chain.
The Gourmet Catering and Naria initiative has been chosen as a finalist, out of more than 250 proposals from all over the world, by fiturnext, the observatory Madrid International Tourism Fair, which is dedicated to promoting good tourism practices in terms of sustainability, this year focused on the Sustainable management of food in tourism.
A recognition that places Gourmet Catering & events in the International scene of the tourism sector, and that encourages us to continue researching and working on reducing food waste.
In the last year we donated more than 14,386 food servings at the Valencia Food Bank, which also means the reduction of the carbon footprint in 15,105 kg.
The Observatory has highlighted the common values shared by all the winners and finalists, whose projects have the objective of reducing food surplus through circular systems, promoting recycling and composting, local and proximity gastronomy and the reduction of food waste.
