Verdi on the plate: Counterpoint Les Arts accompanies the premiere of Luisa Miller with an opera-inspired pairing menu

On the occasion of the premiere of Louise Miller, the new opera that inaugurates Sir Mark Elder’s main musical direction in the Palau de les Arts, the restaurant Counterpoint Les Arts –Managed by Gourmet Catering & events– It presents a special pairing menu that translates into flavors and textures the dramatic strength and emotional background of this Verdian melodrama.

The gastronomic proposal, which will be available from December 10 to 22, dialogues with the plot of the opera: a story marked by the tension between love and the rigid social structures of the old regime. The menu seeks to balance tradition and delicacy, with quality products and a carefully selected pairing.

Intrigue and love in three acts

The menu opens with a Bresaola carpaccio, arugula, parmesan and lemon, a light and transparent proposal that recalls the purity of love between Luisa and Rodolfo before the intrigues close on them. At the same time, the Neapolitan roots of this dish pay homage to the place where Luisa Miller first saw the light: the Teatro di San Carlo de Naples, the historical birthplace of Italian opera.

The pairing with Langhe Rosso, A live and plural wine made with six varieties, reflects the crossing of forces between passion, youth, impetus and the first nuances of restlessness.

The second culinary act goes into the heart of the drama. The skewered hake stew, a warm dish with a deep flavor, symbolizes emotional agitation and familiar pressures that begin to tear Luisa and Rodolfo.

the chosen pairing, Komokabras 2024, from Adega Entre os Ríos (Albariño, A Pobra, A Coruña), provides a fresh and vibrant counterpoint. The purity of albariño acts as a flash of clarity in the midst of the emotional conflict that structures this second act.

the closing of the menu, Apple pie with cottage cheese, is inspired by the most moving dimension of the outcome, combining humanity, fragility and truth of the apple with the ultimate tenderness between father and daughter embodied by the softness of cottage cheese.

the pairing with him Primitivo Quiles Extra Moscatel It brings a luminous, almost contemplative, final note, an echo that leaves on the palate —like the work on the viewer— a warm and lasting emotion.

This menu-pairing will be available at Contrapunto Les Arts during the functions of Luisa Miller, offering the public the possibility of prolonging the operatic experience beyond the stage. The restaurant thus reaffirms its commitment to a gastronomy that dialogues with culture and that accompanies the programming of the Palau de les Arts with creativity, sensitivity and a contemporary look.
