The gastronomic proposal, available from December 10 to 22, establishes a captivating dialogue between cuisine and the story of Luisa Miller, marked by the tensions between love and the rigid conventions of the Old Regime. Each dish seeks to reflect the emotion of the score through seasonal ingredients and carefully selected pairings.
On the occasion of the premiere of Luisa Miller, the new production that marks Sir Mark Elder’s debut as music director at the Palau de les Arts, the restaurant Contrapunto Les Arts —managed by Gourmet Catering & Events— has designed a tasting menu inspired by Verdi’s opera, translating the passion, conflict, and drama of this masterpiece into flavors and textures.
The culinary first act opens with a bresaola carpaccio with arugula, Parmesan, and lemon, evoking the purity of the bond between Luisa and Rodolfo before tragedy unfolds. Its Neapolitan roots pay homage to the place where the opera premiered, the Teatro di San Carlo in Naples, an eternal symbol of Italian lyrical tradition. The dish is paired with a Langhe Rosso, a lively red that combines youthful freshness with the first hints of unease.
The second course immerses the diner in the heart of the drama with a hake stew, a dish with intense flavors representing the emotional storm and familial pressures that separate the protagonists. It is paired with a Komokabras 2024 from Adega Entre os Ríos (Albariño, A Pobra, A Coruña), whose freshness provides a bright counterpoint of truth amid the conflict.
The finale arrives with an apple and ricotta tart, a dessert symbolizing the final tenderness between father and daughter and the human fragility that permeates the conclusion. It is served alongside Moscatel Extra from Primitivo Quiles, an Alicante wine that adds a warm, reflective final note, prolonging the opera’s emotion on the palate.
