Located at the Palau de les Arts Reina Sofía, Contrapunto Les Arts presents three special festive menus featuring traditional recipes, seasonal ingredients and a different culinary experience for each celebration.
Christmas is a time for reunions, conversations that linger and gathering around the table. It is also a time for enjoying those special dishes we look forward to all year.
For the festive season, Contrapunto Les Arts, the restaurant operated by Gourmet Catering & Eventos at Valencia’s Palau de les Arts Reina Sofía, has created three special menus for Christmas Day, New Year’s Day and Three Kings’ Day.
Each menu brings together traditional flavours and contemporary cuisine, combining seasonal ingredients, familiar recipes and carefully crafted dishes designed to make the most of the celebrations without having to worry about cooking.
Christmas Day: a festive table for 25 December
Christmas lunch is one of the most anticipated family gatherings of the year. To mark the occasion, Contrapunto has designed a menu that begins with three appetisers: Cantabrian anchovy on toast with tomato, a creamy croquette made with cured beef from León, and a truffled poularde cannelloni.
The meal continues with sautéed wild mushrooms and artichokes, accompanied by a slow-cooked free-range egg, before moving on to one of the highlights of Valencian cuisine: creamy seafood rice with prawns and squid.
For dessert, a combination of quintessential Christmas flavours: A. Galiana nougat, dark chocolate and almond crumble.
New Year’s Day: welcoming 2027 around the table
The first day of the year deserves a celebration of its own. For 1 January, Contrapunto has prepared a menu that brings together some of Spain’s most beloved culinary classics and dishes with a festive touch.
The experience begins with Iberian ham from Extremadura, cod and pine nut fritters, and Galician-style octopus. These are followed by artichokes with Iberian pork jowl, roasted cauliflower cream and Marcona almonds.
For the main course, guests can choose between pressed Manchego lamb shoulder with layered potatoes and rosemary roasting jus, or pan-seared estuary sea bass with American-style seafood sauce.
A caramelised French toast with crème anglaise and meringue milk ice cream provides a sweet finish to the first meal of the year.
Three Kings’ Day: one last festive gathering
On 6 January, the Christmas season comes to an end with Three Kings’ Day, traditionally one of the most eagerly awaited family celebrations in Spain.
For the occasion, Contrapunto’s menu begins with three appetisers: a seafood croquette with citrus mayonnaise, baby squid stuffed with Burgos blood sausage, and truffled cocido cannelloni.
The starter is a ballotine of poularde with duck foie gras and wild mushrooms, followed by a choice of two main courses: arròs amb fesols i naps, a traditional Valencian rice dish with beans and turnips, or grilled line-caught hake with pisto, green sauce and clams.
To finish, profiteroles filled with vanilla cream, served with chocolate and orange sauce.
