A unique gastronomic experience will accompany the performances of Turandot at Les Arts, from June 3 to 16, with three courses and wines carefully chosen to complement the scenic magic of Puccini.
The restaurant Contrapunto Les Arts celebrates the performance of Turandot with a pairing menu full of nods to Chinese cuisine, available from June 3rd to 16th. The restaurant’s chefs team, managed by Gourmet Catering & Eventos, the company responsible for the gastronomy at Les Arts, has has created a three-course proposal inspired by the posthumous work of Giacomo Puccini, which returns to Valencia under the baton of the musical director of the Valencian coliseum, Sir Mark Elder.
From the imperial Beijing of opera to the wineries of Beaujolais, Fontanars dels Alforins and Sauternes, the pairing menu invites the diner on a gastronomic journey in which each bite solves an enigma.
A menu built on three enigmas
The experience begins with a watermelon carpaccio with PDO cheese cream and pesto, a dish that plays with the diner’s perception, a clear reference to the three riddles the princess sets as deadly traps for her suitors. Joseph Drouhin’s young and fruity Beaujolais Villages Nouveau complements the dish’s freshness with a lightness that doesn’t detract from the visual interplay.
Next, the Luzhu Huoshao, a traditional Peking stew adapted to the Valencian palate without sacrificing its original essence, brings the setting of the dish to the table: the palace of Emperor Altoum in the Forbidden City. Casa Sosegada 2022 by Rafael Cambra, made in Fontanars dels Alforins with a blend of rare and complex grape varieties, finds its natural partner in the stew: a wine with a bold personality and well-defined terroir for a dish that tastes of history.
The dessert evokes the cold heart of the princess with an orange crème brûlée served with matcha tea ice cream, paired paired with the Château Laribotte 2023 from Sauternes.
The special Turandot menu will be available at Contrapunto Les Arts from June 3rd to 16th, priced at €38.50 without wine pairing and €53.50 with wine pairing (VAT and bread included, water and other beverages not included). Gourmet Catering & Eventos invites you to experience this unique culinary journey. Experience Turandot from the table as well, on the same night Prince Calaf sings “Nessun dorma” and defies the dawn. Let no one sleep — and let no one leave without tasting it.
