Contrapunto Les Arts accompanies the premiere of Eugene Onegin with a menu inspired by missed connections

The restaurant Contrapunto Les Arts, located in the Palau de les Arts Reina Sofía and managed by Gourmet Catering & Eventos, presents a new pairing menu to coincide with the performance of Eugene Onegin by Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky, one of the most intimate and emotional operas in the Russian repertoire. The gastronomic proposal will be available from January 20 to February 1, during the performances at Les Arts.

Contrapunto Les Arts offers an experience that extends the opera beyond the stage, translating every nuance of this piece, based on Alexander Pushkin’s verse novel, into flavors.

A menu in three acts

Inspired by the emotional restraint and intimate lyricism of Eugene Onegin, the Contrapunto Les Arts menu proposes a journey where each dish engages with the psychology of the characters and the storyline of the opera.

To start, the katsobushi salad with olive foam and piparras presents a subtle reinterpretation of the classic salad, infused with salty and umami notes. The lightness of the katsobushi evokes words written and unspoken, while the olive foam and the sharp touch of the piparras introduce the underlying tension that runs through the opera from its very first scenes.

The main course is deep and comforting, a slow-cooked preparation: a low-temperature pork shank with parsnip cream and Brussels sprouts, reflecting the weight of decisions and the gravity of consequences.

The finale, syrniki with red fruit jam, pays direct homage to Russian tradition. The delicate, slightly tangy syrniki are accompanied by red fruits that bring sweetness and melancholy. A closing that tastes of memory, nostalgia, and what might have been but no longer is.

A complete experience

The special Eugene Onegin menu will be available at Contrapunto Les Arts from January 20 to February 1, during the opera’s performance dates.

An invitation to experience the lyricism with all your senses and to let Tchaikovsky’s emotion continue, silently, around the table.
